Greenwich: New planning app submitted for Deptford Creek footbridge
A NEW PLANNING application has been submitted for a bridge across Deptford Creek.
If approved, the footbridge would link the new development at Greenwich Reach with Millennium Quay.
The bridge, described as a “trapezoidal lattice girder bridge”, would be six metres wide and have lifts at both sides, making it fully accessible to all. It would be fifty metres long and be seven metres above the creek’s average high water mark. read more

Greenwich: London Elects reveals mayoral election ward data
KEN LIVINGSTONE topped the polls in Greenwich at the recent mayoral election, according to ward breakdown data just revealed by London Elects.
The figures show that Labour’s candidate, who was London’s mayor between 2000 and 2008, got a 42.93% and 43.32% share of the vote in SE10′s Peninsula and Greenwich West wards respectively. read more

Greenwich: East Greenwich Community Festivals
A JUBILEE picnic, a 1948 style fete and a dog show are just some of the events taking place in East Greenwich this summer.
To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the staging of the Olympic games in London, a series of events have been designed to bring the community together.
The first event of the East Greenwich Community Festivals events is a Jubilee Picnic in East Greenwich Pleasaunce on June 2nd. Then a special welcome is being organised for the Olympic Torch Relay as it travels down Woolwich Road on Saturday July 21st. read more

Greenwich: Len Duvall re-elected as local London Assembly member
LEN DUVALL has been re-elected as the constituency London Assembly member for Greenwich and Lewisham.
It is Duvall’s fourth term representing the area on the London Assembly, making him the only person to hold the post since the London Assembly was created in 2000.
The former leader of Greenwich Council saw his share of the vote surge to 49.61%, from 39.21% in 2008.
Support for the Conservatives, the Lib Dems and the Green Party was down on four years ago, although the Greens did pass the Lib Dems to take third place. read more

Greenwich: Greenwich Comedy Festival 2012
THERE will be laughs aplenty when the Greenwich Comedy Festival returns this summer.
Part of the Greenwich Festivals season, the comedy spectacular will take place from 13th to 20th July. It’s the festival’s fourth year and it will again be held in the grounds of the spectacular Old Royal Naval College.
The line-up includes some of the biggest names in stand-up comedy such as Sean Hughes, Rufus Hound, John Shuttleworth and Stephen K Amos. read more
